I have been asked so many times where I get my scarf covers for breastfeeding and what breastfeeding products I use. So I have compiled a list of my breastfeeding must-haves, hopefully this helps any of you new moms out there wondering which products to put on your registries and buy. Of course, these are just my must-haves for my life so other mommas may have more or different suggestions. Also this is a quick list I threw together, so if I think of something else I will try to remember to come back and add it!
OK so first off, my scarf covers, which I LOVE!! They double as a carseat cover to keep random strangers from sticking their hands in the carseat, also provide shade and cover her to nap, and lastly, it helps that I always have the nursing cover with me when we are out and about–because it is the carseat cover too! You can click on the pics for the links, but these would also make GREAT baby shower GIFTS, whether the mom plans to nurse or not!!
My next nursing must-have is the Lansinoh Cream because yes, you will have sore nipples that’s inevitable! In fact, I liked this Lansinoh Breastfeeding Starter Set for Nursing Mothers includes, 1 Lanolin Nipple Cream, 24 Stay Dry Disposable Nursing Pads, 2 TheraPearl Breast Therapy Packs and 1 LatchAssist Nipple Everter just so many must-haves, it’s definitely a life saver!
The Nursing Pillows are nice, but hard to take out and about, and usually just used at home, so in my opinion, only worth the money if you will be a stay-at-home mommy or in the position to be able to actually use it often! Then again, the Boppy Nursing Pillow does double as sitting prop for the baby, so if you can only invest in one –that one is my vote!
To keep my supply up this time I have taken the Breastfeeding Supplements and the Milk Drunk – Protein Powder for Breastfeeding Mamas mixed with my Delight Protein Powder because let’s be honest, I am very busy, and don’t have the convenience of meal planning to make sure I am getting the nutrition I need for me and my baby!! I know there are other supplements out there, but so many of them are NASTY, to say it nicely! So I stick with these rather than going on a taste-test journey, and my milk supply is great, and my baby is growing well!
These are a few of the nursing bra’s I like, also a must to help make it easier to breastfeed out-and-about! There’s so many different options, these are a few I liked just fine, and really you only need a few to get through the year!
I have a hospital grade pump because my babies were preemie, and I was exclusively pumping. The NICU doctors made it very clear that I would need this strong of a pump to keep my supply, so maybe it is an overkill pump for those of you with full-term babies that you take home, but I chose the Medela Pump in Style Advanced Breast Pump with On the Go Tote because it included everything for a decent price! I use it on the go when I am traveling, and I use it at home even though my baby is latching now. The last thing I can think of is the easy to use Bedside Lamp for Breastfeeding, sometimes I use my phone when I am traveling, but this lamp is so much nicer for those night-time feeds!
Just realized I clearly take my big 40 OZ Water Bottle everywhere I go because when you are breastfeeding you are THIRSTY!! Hydro Flask 40 oz is the one I have, but since I have learned that Fifty/Fifty provides the same thing at a lower cost — so I guess depends on your brand preference – and P.S. don’t forget to get your lid of choice because that has to be purchased separately as well! But the ice stays good in these water bottles for a few days, so I am drinking more because my water is always perfect temp.
For nursing clothes I just always remember to wear looser collard shirts –I don’t buy nursing clothes myself, I find it to be a waste of $$ and so far haven’t found stylish clothes that don’t scream I AM A NURSING NEW MOM that aren’t super pricey!! Remember, it is just a year if you choose to breastfeed the whole year, and I already bought pregnancy clothes, it really hasn’t been a big deal to use loosely collard shirts or ones I can easily lift.
That is all the MUST-HAVES I can think of for now! I will update the list if I realize there is something else I use, but really there are so many products out there you could almost spend your entire savings to get them, I am frugal, and only like to buy what I will actually use because we are also living in a small space. So hopefully this list answers all the questions, I am often getting and will help many of you new moms decipher what items to get!
